Cash
Not The Only Consideration: Baby Bonus Feedback
ORCHARD
ROAD, SINGAPORE -- Cash
is good but it is not the only factor Singaporeans think about when
they decide whether or not to have more children, public
feedback on the Baby Bonus scheme showed. While
most supported the scheme, the rest felt the cash
amounts were not enough even for diapers, and other issues like the lack
of childcare arrangements, lack of COE, and lack
of opportunities to groom the baby as the next Beckham or Prime Minister
were not addressed. The CNC poll attracted over 1,000 responses; 67%
said they liked the scheme and 11% said they did
not. In addition, 80% of respondents
indicate more concrete measures such as free concert tickets for the baby
siblings to China
Doll Concert, a 1% cut to the parent on the NKF donation
received during the fund raising show, and even a free
1% stake for the grandparent in Temasek Holding will help.
Sure Slim Slimming Center To
Recall 500 Slimed Patron
NORTH
BRIDGE ROAD, SINGAPORE -- Sure Slim Slimming
Center will be recalling some 500 customers of its slimming
program conducted in 1995, after they were found with faulty fats. An
official said a media statement will be issued on
Wednesday explaining the extent of the recall. Sure Slim is said to be
conducting a joint inspection with CASE. The inspection
will be done on some 6,000 and 8,000 fat molecules to check
for possible defective fats in these slimming patrons who indicated an
exceptional perfect figures suitable for modeling even at the age of 65
after the slimming job. The official also said that such perfect result
is not possible with any slimming program, hence they are not taking any
risk but to recall the patrons to ensure the safety of its customers.
IOC:
Many Viewers May Be Using Olympics-Enhancing Drugs
KALLANG,
SINGAPORE -- The International Olympic Committee
representative in Singapore announced last week that it will launch a
full-scale investigation in the wake of allegations of
Olympics-enhancing drug use by viewers. "We have reason to suspect
that as many as 1 million Singapore viewers are artificially increasing
their ability to sit through the Sydney Games with illegal substances,
particularly chewing gums," IOC president J.A. Samaranch said over
a telephone interview. "These drugs enable viewers to watch TV
Olympic coverage beyond the limits of normal human endurance."
Interest-boosting doping, Samaranch said, is particularly rampant among
viewers of table-tennis, swimming, beach-volleyball and women's sailing.
